Other Places

Finished golfing? Wondering where to go next? Perhaps these suggestions will prove interesting.

Benalmadina Pueblo

Situated in the hills above the coast and a few miles from Benalmadina Costa, with its port, bars, restaurants, sea life centre, lively atmosphere and lively reputation lies the lovely village of Benalmadina Pueblo.

This is the place to go for a quiet evening meal in one of the restaurants. We particularly like the Restaurant Copenhagen, or Pepe's as we refer to it.

Situated at the top of the lift from the small car park at the bottom of the lift shaft Pepe's offers fantastic value food and wine in idyllic surroundings, with the house wine being served from earthenware jugs that never seem to empty! If you go then you should try his Chorizo al Infierno as a starter - wonderful.

Looking Towards the Main Square from Pepe's Terrace

If you follow the link below you can fly over to the top of the lift by Pepe's and see the church that lies a few yards past Pepe's restaurant before meandering back down the high street past Pepe's to the village square and its three restaurants.

Cabopino

Whilst on the subject of food we would highly recommend a trip to the small port of Cabopino. This can be found further down the coast towards Marbella once past La Cala de Mijas.

The small harbour is delightful and is fronted by a selection of excellent restaurants and bars, whilst for the children there is a large beach area adjacent to the port itself.

Why not fly there, zoom in on the harbour and take a look for yourself.

La Cala de Mijas

View from Beach side restaurant

La Cala de Mijas is a lovely location that is situated 15 minutes away from the apartment. There are three beach side restaurants that sell freshly caught fish as well as a wide variety of other foods. Our favourite is the Arroyo restaurant which is the middle restaurant of the three.

For that special occasion you might like to try Alberts restaurant that is situated opposite the first of the beach side restaurants. Quite pricy but offering very tasty food this restaurant offers a good eating experience.

In the centre of La Cala de Mijas are a range of restaurants offering Indian, Thai, Chinese and Spanish cuisine.

La Cala de Mijas is a family oriented location with an excellent beach and a good selection of bars for when you develop a thirst.

In addition to the excellent golfing facilities that are to be found adjacent to the apartment and along the Costa del Sol there can also be found a horse racing course close to La Cala de Mijas. Meetings at the Hippodromo take place from October to May.

The Hippodromo is being expanded to offer more facilities so that visitors can enjoy a range of activities.

Malaga

Malaga is the provincial city of the region and is well worth a visit. You can drive there and struggle to find parking space or take the half hourly train from Fuengirola direct to the city.

There is much to do and see in this vibrant city ranging from shopping to art to visiting the ancient Moorish fortress, the Alcazaba.

The Alcazaba is a magnificent Moorish fort that rivals the more famous fortress at Granada. A few pictures are shown below to give you a flavour of the Alcazaba's magnificence.

In addition to the Alcazaba the city also houses the Picasso Museum that is worth a visit if only to contemplate what on earth was going on in his mind!

The city also has a port and an impressive beach area that are also worth visiting.
